Official time: 32:13. A good 43s slower than what I thought was a modest goal. Splits 6:18, 6:21, 6:27, 6:29, 6:31, 0:07 - The rising numbers means this wasn't a good race. I didn't bonk, and wasn't hurting; I just wasn't in the groove. Maybe Mt. Washington gave me a false sense of my fitness level. Still, it was good to be out there with son Sam and brother in law Chuck. I don't get to see him often.
Jeff,
ReplyDeleteSomething about the pat's 5 miler is decieving....I have never done well there.. there is a long hill in mile threee that many call the 3 mile equalizer, but it doesn't seem that hard to me. Then there is the paved trail that some say sucks the energy right out of their legs, but again I am not bothered by it because of all the trail running...in the end a great downhill finish!
It should be an easy race for fast time....but somehow it never is. Well except for Ben true!
Ben smoked it. I heard some kid went out fast just to beat him at the first mile mark! The race was weird. When I looked at the course profile, I was expecting much more uphill on the trail by the river but that didn't seem very uphill at all. Still, I couldn't muster much speed on it.
